For the first time, Kyrgyzstan becomes the chair of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway Steering Committee under ESCAP of the United Nations.
On September 25-26, 2024, the Eighth Session of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway Steering Committee takes place in Jeju, Republic of Korea.
Kyrgyzstan has been invited to assume the chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway Steering Committee under ESCAP of the United Nations. This is an important step for the country as it joins this committee for the first time, immediately assuming the role of chair. The forum includes 18 members, among them ministers of digitalization from various countries, serving a term of three years. Kyrgyzstan is represented by the Minister of Digital Development, Nuria Kutnaeva.
To date, no representatives from Kyrgyzstan have ever been nominated as part of the forum, underscoring the significance of this appointment. The committee members also represent countries such as Austria, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, the USA, Korea, China, Russia, Azerbaijan, the Philippines, and the Maldives.
