Kyrgyzstan Presented Innovative Projects at COP29 in its Pavilion at the EXPO Exhibition

From November 14 to 22, 2024, the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is being held in Baku. As part of the EXPO exhibition dedicated to climate change, the Kyrgyz Republic organized a national pavilion where digital and environmental projects aimed at sustainable development and ecosystem protection were showcased.

Minister of Digital Development Nuriya Kutnayeva, speaking via live broadcast, emphasized:

“Digital solutions play a crucial role in combating climate change. Kyrgyzstan is actively implementing innovations to minimize its carbon footprint and enhance the resilience of its economy.”

Panel Discussions and Start-up Participation

In the Kyrgyz Pavilion, panel discussions were held to discuss the role of science and digital technologies in addressing climate challenges. Representatives from ministries, international experts, and start-ups presented their developments and participated in the discussions.

Prof. Salma Abbasi, Chairperson and CEO of eWorldwide Group, noted:

“To improve the global climate, it is essential that citizens of every country actively engage in these processes.”

Professor Askar Togorbayev of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic discussed the necessity of implementing advanced technologies and automated systems for monitoring climate conditions in Kyrgyzstan. He also highlighted the importance of creating artificial glaciers to preserve the country’s water resources and ecosystems.

Daniyar Eshmatov, Deputy Director of the state enterprise “Infocom” and representative of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, presented the electronic document management project “Infodocs.” According to him, the implementation of this system reduces paper use and saves trees, positively impacting the ecosystem.

Familiarization of International Participants with Kyrgyzstan’s Projects

International guests at COP29 had the opportunity to explore Kyrgyzstan’s projects and participate in panel discussions focused on digital solutions for sustainable development. Youth start-ups from Kyrgyzstan, such as the company “Kalil Industr,” presented their innovative solutions, such as the eco-friendly “Agym” power bank for autonomous power supply in remote areas.

The Significance of the COP29 Platform for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

Kyrgyzstan is actively using the COP29 platform to exchange experiences and strengthen international cooperation in climate policy. The projects and ideas presented highlight the country’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and improving the environmental situation both nationally and globally.
